I wasn't aware of VPP having a host stack so would certainly be interested to hear more on it. We are doing some work with TLDK (https://wiki.fd.io/view/TLDK) as a userspace stack. The other stacks I am aware (existence only, haven't explored/evaluated) of are ANS (https://github.com/ansyun/dpdk-ans), mTCP ( https://github.com/mtcp-stack/mtcp), f-stack ( https://github.com/F-Stack/f-stack), and seastar ( https://github.com/scylladb/seastar). There are probably others out there too.
