RC2 for 18.08

* *RC2* date is on *Tuesday 24 July* (May slip to 25 July).
* Testing status
  * Multi process memory issues
    * There are two issues, one fix has been merged into main repo
  * There is FreeBSD build issue, not high priority
  * There is a virtio defect, fix in in progress
  * One virtio fix applied to next-net
  * Testpmd performance issue has been applied to next-net, will be tested
* No change discussed on release date, planned date is August 1, 2018

  * More patches to be merged, more review required
  * No big feature for RC2 there are small sets
  * Power sample app target RC2

* next-net
  * ~20 patch remaining, no major issue, target is to close tree as much as
possible this week
  * Ferruh will be on holiday next week, Thomas will cover

* next-crypto
  * There are new PMDs target RC2
  * Tree will be pulled on Friday and again on Tuesday for RC2

* next-virtio
  * A hotfix pulled for RC2
  * packed ring layout feature won't be in this release

* next-eventdev
* next-pipeline
* next-qos
  * No update was given


* Defects
---------
* Ajit mentioned there are still some maintainers not registered to bugzilla
* No major/showstopper issue
* There are still some coverity/cppcheck issues to fix, fixes still can go in to
the release
* cppcheck can be integrated to the patchwork, need some volunteer for work
* Kevin mentioned a virtio issue found by RedHat when 2MB hugepages used both in
host and guest

The DPDK Release Status Meeting is intended for DPDK Committers to discuss the
status of the master tree and sub-trees, and for project managers to track
progress or milestone dates.

The meeting occurs on Thursdays at 8:30 UTC. If you wish to attend just send me
an email and I will send you the invite.
