This is a bit overkill in my opinion. Also it would make the behaviour somewhat different whether ldd is available and/or the analyzed binaries are executable. I think it is an OK limitation to require that the analyzed ELF files are executable. By the way, the following command: LD_TRACE_LOADED_OBJECTS=3D1 build/app/dpdk-test-pmd Works both on Linux and FreeBSD and produces similar outputs.
