Subject: [Bug 1052] Some PMDs bypass mempool instrumentation
Date: Thu, 14 Jul 2022 15:25:32 +0000 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-1052-3@http.bugs.dpdk.org/> (raw)
https://bugs.dpdk.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1052
Bug ID: 1052
Summary: Some PMDs bypass mempool instrumentation
Product: DPDK
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: Normal
Component: ethdev
Assignee: dev@dpdk.org
Reporter: mb@smartsharesystems.com
Target Milestone: ---
Some PMDs, when using RTE_ETH_TX_OFFLOAD_MBUF_FAST_FREE, don't call
rte_mempool_put_bulk() to free the mbufs, but instead manipulate the mempool
and cache structures directly.
This means that mempool instrumentation is bypassed, and such mbuf bulk frees
are neither traced nor counted in the mempool statistics.
