Hi,
I am trying out multiple RX, TX queues in KVM environment (running on CentOS). I have DPDK application (testpmd) running on CentOS in KVM. I have client & server connected to physical interfaces (described below). VM is managing physical interface directly (configured in KVM XML configuration):
<interface type='direct' trustGuestRxFilters='yes'> <source dev='ens1' mode='passthrough'/> <model type='virtio'/> <driver name='vhost' queues='8'/></interface>
Network:Client (eth1: 10.10.10.2/24) --- (eth1) CentOS VM (running DPDK: 18.05.1) (eth2) ---- Server (eth1: 10.10.10.10/24).
I am running testpmd with 1 Rx queue & 2 Tx queues. I can see ARP request is being forwarded. But ICMP request is not coming to testpmd. I can see ICMP request coming on macvtap0 interface (interface on Host).
If I rerun application with 2 Rx queues & 2 Tx queues, I found that ICMP request is read by testpmd on RxQueue-Id: 1 and forwarded the same.
I wants to know why ICMP request was received on Queue-Id: 1 on earlier case even I have configured only 1 Rx Queue. Client to Server connectivity has been broken in this case.
Do I need to specify 2 Rx queues (= no of Tx queues) every time?
Any help will be useful.
