I should add that our ports are in promiscuous mode, and are not inline: we do not respond to stateful packets, only receive them.

Thanks,

Michal

Subject: Intel 710 Series and multiple vlan tags

Our application receives large amounts of very varied traffic.
A single port may receive 'pure' ipv4 traffic, as well as traffic with 4 vlan layers, and MPLS traffic comprising 3 mpls labels.
The nic has to be able to load balance all that traffic between 2 or more queues.

According to the 710 Series Datasheet it can handle up to 8 vlan layers (section 7.2.3.1 paragraph 2).
I am wondering how the port needs to be configured such that it would be able to load balance at the same time this vlan traffic and the other types as listed above.
I read the datasheet, but I am having a hard time connecting the stated detunneling ability of 8 vlan layers with the actual configuration in the DPDK.

Thanks,
