Subject: Seeing Drop (upto 75%) with IAVF Driver
Date: Wed, 21 Jun 2023 10:08:38 +0000	[thread overview]

Hi

We were using DPDK 19 and upgraded to DPDK 21 with XL710 card on ESXi. The VF driver changed from “i40evf” to “iavf”.

We are seeing a drop of around 75% in throughput.

ESXi Version:

[root@localhost:~] esxcli system version get

   Product: VMware ESXi

   Version: 7.0.1

   Build: Releasebuild-17551050

   Update: 1

   Patch: 30

I40en Version:

 Driver Info:

         Bus Info: 0000:d8:00:0

         Driver: i40en

         Firmware Version: 6.80 0x800042e3 0.385.97

         Version: 1.8.1.123

Is there any minimum required version for ESXi and i40en for DPDK 21.11 (iavf) to work?

Also, IAVF per queue stats are not showing up, is this expected?

Regards
Saadique
