The Core section doesn't have drop downs like on the www site, so no arrows
indicating additional content. Would consider that one a minor bug?

I'm afraid it's impossible to do with Hugo.
If someone has a patch to make it work, feel free to send.
Yes the look and feel is a bit different between www. and core.
because they are using respectively Wordpress and Hugo.
